[Photoshop] Tutorial #8 - Creating shiny marbles

 
 

Software: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Time: 5 minutes

1.Open a new layer with a white background with the following settings

2. Okay! Now lets create a nice background for our pearls.Set your foreground color to black and your background color to white. Then Go to Filter>Render>Difference Clouds

3. Repeat the effect 2 times by pressing Ctrl + F two times. Then you should have something like this:

 

4. Duplicate this layer by form the menu by Layer> Duplicate Layer… then click OK. Now use the rectangular marquee tool to select the bottom area of your image

 

5. Go to Edit>Transform>Perspective and stretch the bottom corners of the selection till you have something like this before you hit enter on your keyboard.

 

6. Okay, now it comes to the harder part! Press Ctrl +D to deselect your selection. Go to Layer>New>Layer and hit OK. Choose the Elliptical marquee tool and make a circle.

7. Choose from the swatches palette 95% gray as your foreground color. Next, go to Edit>Fill… and hit OK.

 

 

8. Careful now! Right click on the selection and go click on Layer via Copy

 

 

 

9. Go to Edit>Transform>Scale and scale the selection till you have something like the one below before you hit enter:

 

10. Select the gradient tool . Then right click the gradient preview on top to open the gradient editor.


 

Make a new gradient by selecting the black color, then hit OK.

 

 

11. Drag the gradient form the top of the selected area to its bottom to have something like this:

 

12. Create a new layer by going to Layer>New>Layer then click OK.

13. Select the brush tool and set it to 17 pixels, Mode: Normal , Opacity: 80%, Flow: 100%


14. Select the white color and make a nice crescent shape inside your pearl preferalbly at the lower left closer to the edge.

15. Now you are almost done. Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur with the pixels set to 10 to have this:

This is my final result….

You can make more pearls by using different colors to make it look nice.Add your own touches to make a neat looking collection of marbles.
